Ida's remnants regroup, ready to pound East Coast - USATODAY.com: "ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — After Hurricane Ivan caused catastrophic damage to the beach and this fast-growing community five years ago, city officials spent $9.3 million on a four-month beach restoration project.
They built up the beach with tons of rare quartz-white sand, dredged from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico, adding the equivalent of four dump truck loads per linear foot of beach."
