The city of Gulf Shores will kick off the holiday season with the 29th annual lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center.

An open house with refreshments and entertainment will follow at the Civic Center, Gulf Shores Museum, Thomas B. Norton Library and David L. Bodenhamer Recreation Center, as well as South Baldwin Community Theater, until 8 p.m."
