Full report: Fairhope take stock after police standoff at pizzeria | Breaking News from the Press-Register - al.com: " FAIRHOPE -- What had been the glass front door of the popular pizzeria remained broken out Wednesday. Only yellow police tape kept passers-by from entering the restaurant, filled with glass shards and upturned tables.

Locals began taking stock Wednesday of the financial and emotional costs of the previous day's events, when Rich Gambino barricaded himself inside the Ravenite Pizzeria before police smashed inside to arrest him.

Acquaintances of the well-known Gambino, who co-owns the Ravenite, said they were just learning of his history of physical abuse against his wife and his struggles with bipolar disorder."
