Gulf State Park's new pier damaged in storm - al.com: "The Gulf State Park Pier will be closed indefinitely after being damaged by waves from Tropical Storm Ida, according to park Assistant Superintendent Trey Myers.

Myers said 109 of the 5-foot-by-5-foot sacrificial deck panels were moved anywhere from an inch to being entirely blown out.

The panels are designed to dislodge during storms to protect the integrity of the substructure."
