Hawk-watchers plan birding event at Fort Morgan - al.com: "ORANGE BEACH — October is always a big month for birding along Alabama's beaches.

There's the Coastal Alabama BirdFest, a four-day event that attracts hundreds of visitors from throughout North America to spy some 300 species — mostly songbirds — as they make their last rest stop before launching across the Gulf of Mexico for the winter.

And there's usually a week or two in the latter part of the month in which hummingbird experts set up shop at Fort Morgan to tag as many specimens as they can during the migration."
