Coastal homeowners' group proposes its own insurance bills - al.com: "MONTGOMERY — Dissatisfied with coastal insurance bills from local lawmakers, members of the Homeowners' Hurricane Insurance Initiative have created proposals of their own that call for much stricter regulations for insurers.

Most of the bills from the group made up of homeowners in Mobile and Baldwin counties would address premium costs head-on, allowing the state to mandate how much insurers could charge in coastal areas, as compared with what they charge in the rest of the state.

This contrasts sharply with recent proposals from local lawmakers, many of whom sought to lower premiums indirectly."
