Down economy doesn’t slow “Fill The Boot” campaign - Baldwin County NOW: "ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — All across the country, firefighters use their “Fill the Boot” campaign to raise much needed funds for Muscular Dystrophy. Orange Beach is no exception as once again, over Labor Day weekend, firefighters accepted donations from all over town.

With the economy down, there were concerns that this year’s effort would not be as fruitful as in years gone by.

“We were kind of hesitant this year about the program with the economy that way it is. We just didn’t know if were going to be able to collect any money because people don’t really have any,” said Orange Beach Fire Chief Forney Howard."
