Mayor to seek sewage deal - al.com: "ORANGE BEACH — After months of discussion, the City Council voted unanimously this week to allow Mayor Tony Kennon to negotiate a contract with Integra Water, a private utility that wants to send sewage to the municipal wastewater plant for treatment.
If an agreement is reached, the City Council must approve the terms before it takes effect, Kennon said.
'We have significant excess capacity in our sewer plant that's sitting dormant, that we're paying for,' the mayor said Tuesday before the vote. 'And all we're doing is taking someone else's wastewater to generate some revenue.'"
