Trail grows nearer to completion - al.com: "The Baldwin County Commission hired a contractor last week and construction is expected to begin this month on one of the last unfinished stretches of a biking and walking trail along Scenic 98 south of Fairhope.

Most of the 33-mile Eastern Shore Trail project, which began more than a decade ago, has already been completed. It runs from Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile to Spanish Fort, then south through Daphne, Montrose, Fairhope and Point Clear.

The trail has been paid for chiefly through federal transportation grants obtained through the county, according to Baldwin officials. Matching funds have been paid by the county and by the Baldwin County Trailblazers."
