While fishing at Gulf Shores, Ala. early one morning, I noticed two herons about a quarter of a mile down the beach checking the waves for breakfast.
After making eye contact with one of the herons, whom I'll call Clarence, he paid me a visit. Clarence was seeing if I would catch anything that he might be interested in. Much to my surprise after catching a small trout I flipped it to Clarence, and he swallowed it immediately. I had a new best friend.
Clarence stood within 2 feet of me for the next two hours as I walked up and down the beach fishing. His motto was 'you catch them, and I'll eat them.'"
