Museum unveils restored Earhart plane | pnj.com | Pensacola News Journal: "A restored Lockheed Electra, the type of aircraft Amelia Earhart was flying when she mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean, was unveiled Thursday at the National Naval Aviation Museum.
Hundreds of people packed into the museum atrium to see the unveiling of the twin-engine plane, which glinted afternoon sun off its mirror-polished skin.
"Today is a wonderful day, and we have the opportunity to dedicate a wonderful historic aircraft," said retired Vice Adm. Gerald Hoewing, president of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation."
