Grant money to continue study of hurricanes - al.com: "A dozen new weather data collection stations are expected to go up throughout southern Alabama, southeast Mississippi and the western Florida Panhandle after a local hurricane researcher won renewal of a federal grant.
The money, more than $500,000 awarded by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, should be made available in the fall to Sytske Kimball, an associate meteorology professor at the University of South Alabama, and the Center for Hurricane Intensity and Landfall Investigation at the university.
In addition, $100,000 will be available to the center's NOAA partners, Kimball said."
