State's top newspapers recognized at APA convention - al.com: "The Birmingham News, The Opelika-Auburn News, the Shelby County Reporter and The Greenville Advocate were honored Saturday for General Excellence, the top prize in the Alabama Press Association's 2009 Better Newspaper Contest.

The APA handed out those and other awards during events at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, where it has conducted its 138th annual summer convention this weekend."
