Foley pharmacy's lawsuit gives funds to United Way, others - al.com: "FOLEY — A month before kicking off its 2009 fundraising campaign, United Way of Baldwin County accepted the largest donation in its history: a $331,395.49 slice of a multimillion-dollar settlement reached in a class action lawsuit brought by local pharmacy against a national benefits provider.

Seven years ago, Wright Drugs sued Health Benefits Services Inc. after the company told customers that a prescription discount card it sold would be accepted at the small downtown pharmacy.

Wright Drugs wasn't the only pharmacy that felt it was wrongly included in the discount plan, and soon the dispute grew into a class action suit pitting more than 22,000 of the nation's independent drug stores against some of the largest players in the pharmacy business, including CVS Caremark Corp."
