Elberta hires former federal agent as chief - al.com: "The federal agent in charge of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Mobile will become Elberta's police chief, Mayor Marvin Williams said Wednesday.
The Town Council voted Tuesday night to name Mickey Pledger to direct the Elberta Police Department. Pledger will take office Aug. 3. Pledger will retire July 31 as resident agent in charge of the Mobile immigration office.
'He was the most qualified individual we had apply,' Williams said. 'We were fortunate that he was retiring from federal service and we were able to get someone with his qualifications.'"
