It has only been open a week and folks there say they've easily had well over 15,000 visitors as of Saturday, July 25, 2009. The original pier was destroyed during Hurricane Ivan in 2004. This week state officials held a grand opening for the new pier last Thursday. Several of the fishermen say they love the new amenities there."
