Battle of Mobile Bay - 145th Anniversary: "July 25, 2009 - Gulf Shores, AL / Fort Morgan, AL (OBA) - If you enjoyed the fireworks of the 4th of July, you will surely enjoy the opening event of the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Mobile Bay at Fort Morgan State Historic Site. Friday evening, July 31st at 8:30 PM, you will see and hear a rare event, the nighttime firing of the cannons from the Fort Morgan Water Battery.

There will be lots of re-enactors around from both sides of the engagement as well as soldiers and sailors, so don’t hesitate to talk to them, as long as they are not involved in the fighting, of course. Do be prepared for a little noise, this is a major Civil War re-enactment."
