Invest today in nature - al.com: "BALDWIN COUNTY commissioners can help preserve an important section of maritime forest and wetlands along Bon Secour Bay by voting today to contribute $1 million to its purchase.

The 850 acres on Baldwin County 1 includes about 530 feet of bay frontage. The Conservation Fund and the Weeks Bay Foundation are putting together the deal.

Purchase price is $2.5 million, with Baldwin County contributing its $1 million from unused Coastal Impact Assistance Program money. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would put up $1 million and Alabama's Forever Wild program would contribute the remaining $500,000."
