Source says huge hybrid auto plant coming to Bay Minette area - al.com: "BAY MINETTE — A Chinese auto tycoon plans to manufacture hybrid vehicles in north Baldwin County, according to a state official with extensive knowledge of the project.

Gov. Bob Riley will make the formal announcement at a news conference today in Montgomery, according to the official, who declined to speak on the record. Riley's office has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. news conference at the state Capitol to reveal 'a new economic development project coming to Alabama.'

Hybrid Kinetic Motors Corp. would use a 3,000-acre industrial megasite, making an initial investment of at least $1 billion and creating 'several thousand' jobs in the project's first phase, said the official who spoke to the Press-Register."
