Landfill leased to a private waste hauler - al.com: "BAY MINETTE — County commissioners have agreed to a deal with a Florida waste-collection company for it to lease Baldwin's financially struggling Eastfork Landfill.

That will allow the Freeport, Fla.-based Emerald Waste Services company to close its Gulf Shores landfill and reserve remaining space there for future hurricane debris disposal in the city, officials said.

The private Sunbelt Landfill situated across Ala. 59 from Pelican Place at Craft Farms has room for about two years of typical construction and demolition debris or one major storm cleanup, according to previous reports."
