Wet and Wild Festival set for Saturday at Big Lagoon | pnj.com: "Saturday's Wet and Wild Festival features the best of Big Lagoon, with water activities and nature walks.

The free event is from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Big Lagoon State Park, 12301 Gulf Beach Highway.

Festivalgoers will learn the finer skills of canoeing, kayaking, sailing, surfing, snorkeling, plus the art of casting and fly fishing. Governor's Pavilion will be the site for traditional carnival games, a rock wall, power bungee bounce, a touch tank, concessions stands and entertainment courtesy of Jim Bailey Middle School jazz band and choir, dancers from LaBelle Performing Arts, karate demonstrations, and a cheer or two from Tate High School cheerleaders. Experts from Bass Pro Shops, Blonde John's Surf and Skate and Dive Pros will provide lessons and demonstrations. Park Rangers at Big Lagoon and Escambia County Natural Resources will lead educational nature walks and a wading tour, and will provide programs on sea turtles and snakes.

Wet and Wild is sponsored by the Perdido Key Rotary, but was the brainchild of Perdido resident Kelley Thompson."
