60th Annual Blessing Of The Fleet - Blessing Of The Fleet Archbishop Tradition Bayou The Batre - WKRG.com: "Bayou La Batre boats are ready to set sail after they were blessed Sunday, May 3rd. St Margaret's Catholic Church held its 60th annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony. Mobile Archbishop Thomas Rodi presided over the ceremony. This was his first Bayou La Batre fleet blessing. Rodi is not unfamiliar with the tradition. He did the same thing while working in New Orleans. Rodi prayed to God to watch over the ships as people hit the water for either pleasure or work. Organizers say it's one of the biggest events in the bayou."
