Automated beach parking eyed - al.com

Automated beach parking eyed - al.com: "GULF SHORES — Aiming to automate the pay-to-park system at the city's main public beach, municipal officials plan to solicit proposals from electronic pay station vendors and install some on a trial basis as early as late June.

Installing an automated system in which visitors to Gulf Place pay the $5 parking fee to a machine rather than contracted attendants could net hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next five years through labor savings and income from currently free spots at West Second Street, city officials estimated in a memo to the City Council."
