Governor signs bill creating state veterans cemetery in Baldwin County - al.com: "Gov. Bob Riley visited Baldwin County on Friday to sign a bill into law establishing Alabama's first state-run veterans cemetery — long desired by area veterans groups.
The governor signed the bill before a tent full of veterans at the future site of Saluda Hill State Veterans Cemetery, across from Historic Blakeley State Park.
'We have something now for the people of south Alabama,' Riley said during his remarks. 'A place we can visit and a place where we can always recall all the sacrifices that so many have made and continue to make today.'"
