United States Senator Richard Shelby : Press Room: "U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency will award $5,829,290 to the State of Alabama to update Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) for the counties of Baldwin, Elmore, Madison, Mobile, Montgomery, Shelby, and Tuscaloosa.

“Accurate mapping of flood zone areas within Alabama will provide state and local agencies important information to help them prepare for flood emergencies,” said Shelby. “This grant will help our state and local governments improve the flood risk maps so that they more accurately reflect recent development and changes in the environment.”"
