Laptop Users Group (LUG) for Locals & Connecting Families

By popular demand, the Orange Beach Public Library is offering our Monday morning, 10:00 a.m. Laptop Users Group classes during the month of May. Come try out our classes in a smaller environment that offers plenty of time for individual questions. Our schedule is:

May 4, 2009 Maintenance and Security
May 11, 2009 Internet Searching
May 18, 2009 Word Processing

All classes meet in the Library meeting room and are open and free to the public.

Also coming in May, the Orange Beach Public Library is proud to be one of the 100+ libraries in the state offering deployed military members and their families at home an opportunity to meet via video webcam at the library through the Connecting Families Program. Beginning May 4th2009, Alabamians and military families will be able to schedule appointments with the library to come in and use the technology to see and talk to their deployed family members. Alabama is the only state in the nation with this program. Connecting Families is a partnership between the public library service and the Alabama Broadband Initiative that Governor Riley launched earlier this year. The program was started with grant funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

For more information about our computer classes or scheduling a Web conference appointment with your deployed family member, please contact the library at 981-2923.
