Parrot Heads '09 | pnj.com | Pensacola News Journal: "All year long they are doctors, architects, nurses, teachers, artists, carpenters and other occupations, but for three days each early spring, they call themselves Parrot Heads. And like some neo-tropical bird, they invade the island garbed in flip-flops, bright tropical shirts, grass skirts, wild sunglasses and vibrant straw hats adorned with Key West-like paraphernalia - all with top shelf margaritas in hand. It's the second week in March, a time when Parrot Heads, that Jimmy Buffett-inspired subculture, flock from all over the nation and take over Pleasure Island for their annual Stars Fell On Alabama event in Pleasure Island. Today, Saturday and Sunday marks the 10th anniversary. Nation-wide, the Parrot Head's mantra is 'partying with a purpose, while embracing the music and writings of Jimmy Buffett and leaving things just a little better than they found them, and having a blast doing it.'"
