March 10, 2010 - Orange Beach, AL - On March 2, 2010, the Orange Beach Public Library story time celebrated the 106th birthday of Theodore Seuss Geisel. Mr. Geisel, most commonly known as Dr. Seuss, also wrote books under the penname Theo LeSieg.
The National Education Association uses Dr. Seuss’ birthday to celebrate Read Across America Day. This reading initiative was created to inspire reading in children throughout our schools and communities. Story time participants celebrated by listening to Green Eggs and Ham, dressing up like Cat in the Hat and eating birthday cake. The children also made stick puppets of various Seuss characters.
