Councilman steps down in Magnolia Springs | al.com: "MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. -- Town officials will be looking for a new council member following the resignation last week of Joseph Sankey. Sankey, 68, has been Place 2 representative since the town was incorporated in 2006.

His last meeting was Tuesday. He said he had wanted to help the new municipality become established.

'I never intended to stay all that long,' he said after the meeting. 'I ran in the first place because I wanted to help things get started and ran for a second term because I felt things still needed to be done, but I didn't intend to stay forever. I'm not a politician and this seems like a good time for me to go.'"
