Pier sure to please | pnj.com | Pensacola News Journal: "Nearly five years after Hurricane Ivan wrecked Navarre Pier, work has begun on what one local leader says 'will arguably be the finest fishing pier in Florida.'

Crews arrived at the site of the old pier — located at the main parking lot on Navarre Beach — in mid-April to prepare for demolition and construction, County Commissioner Gordon Goodin said. Demolition of the walkway leading up to the old pier has started so crews can build ramps to the nearby location of the new pier for machinery and materials to access the site."
