City to upgrade technology - Baldwin County NOW

City to upgrade technology - Baldwin County NOW - A Gulf Coast Information Source for South Alabama: "ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Orange Beach could soon be upgrading their technology and bringing city government up to speed.

At a recent meeting, the city council authorized the application for a federal grant that would improve the city’s current server system.

“This will bring us to the 22nd century,” Al Bradley, Telecommunications Committee chairman, said.

A grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the Department of Homeland Security would give the city the ability to connect to the Internet faster, send interoffice correspondence quicker and ultimately improve the city’s way of conducting business."
