Judge dismisses most of federal suit against Gulf Shores police - Breaking News from the Press-Register - al.com: "MOBILE, Ala. - A federal judge has dismissed most of the allegations made against two Gulf Shores police officers accused of violating the rights of a woman who was injured during an arrest after the National Shrimp Festival four years ago.

U.S. District Judge William Steele wrote that the battery claims by plaintiff Allison Young should be resolved in Baldwin County Circuit Court.

Steele's ruling did, however, describe 'almost instantaneous resort to force' on the part of Officer Greg Bobo against a suspect who had been charged only with public intoxication and resisted arrest for 35 seconds.

Defense attorney Andy Rutens praised the ruling."
