Tourism holding its own - al.com

Tourism holding its own - al.com: "ONE SECTOR of the economy that isn't as bad off as it could be is Baldwin County tourism.

In a normal economy, drops in lodging tax collections of 7 percent in June and 4 percent in July would not indicate 'a good summer,' as it was characterized by Herb Malone, director of the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

But considering the recession, those numbers are cause for, if not a celebration, at least a sigh of relief on the part of the south Baldwin tourism industry."
