Sidewalk funding goes to Gulf Shores - al.com: "GULF SHORES — City officials have learned that a state-administered federal program will provide $150,520 for new sidewalks and crosswalks for school children.
Generally, the money will be spent connecting sections of sidewalks and bike paths to link the Bodenhamer Center, which sits west of Ala. 59, to Gulf Shores' three schools, which are clustered east of the highway.
Public Works Director Mark Acreman said Monday that his department would do much of the work, using the grant money to buy materials. The city will likely bid out only the job of installing a cross signal at East 22nd Avenue and East Second Street, which is required by the grant, Acreman said."
