Baldwin school officials plan 'emergency summit' on budget shortfall - al.com: "Spending cuts, including 205 layoffs last week, are not enough to balance the Baldwin County education budget, so school officials have scheduled a meeting Thursday afternoon with state and federal representatives to ask for help.

The school board is looking for $4.5 million in either cuts or new funding. Board members plan to confer with state Revenue Commissioner Tim Russell and U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Mobile, in an 'emergency school finance summit' at Daphne High.
