Baldwin County school system considers layoffs of tenured personnel - al.com: "ROBERTSDALE — Two top Baldwin County school officials will recommend today that the Board of Education drop its request for a sales tax increase and consider staffing cuts that could include tenured teachers.
The board voted July 23 to ask the County Commission to pass a 1-cent sales tax for schools. On Monday, board President Tracy Roberts told commission and legislative officials that she and Superintendent Faron Hollinger would recommend that the request be withdrawn.
Roberts said that after meetings with state and county officials last week, she decided that other actions were necessary."
