Baldwin County school board withdraws sales tax request - al.com: "LOXLEY — The Baldwin County Board of Education on Tuesday pulled back its unpopular request for a 1-cent sales tax and instead moved toward deeper staffing cuts just as the school year is getting under way.

With nearly 70 people in the audience at the Central Office in Loxley, board members voted 5-2 to withdraw a July 23 resolution asking the County Commission to enact the tax increase.
