Shelby Announces $19.8 Million for Mobile Bridge

United States Senator Richard Shelby : Press Room: "U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that the U.S. Coast Guard will award $19,800,000 to the state of Alabama for the 14 Mile CSX Railroad Bridge on the Mobile River. This funding will allow the Coast Guard to complete this project.

“Replacement of the 14 Mile CSX Railroad Bridge will ensure safe marine navigation on the Mobile River, which is vital to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of waterway commerce through the Port of Mobile and along the Black Warrior Tombigbee waterway system,” said Shelby. “The replacement of the bridge will save shippers millions of dollars annually in lost time and accidents, and will greatly assist in the shipment of cargo moving through the Alabama State Docks.”"
