Mobile officials ramp up talk of cross-bay ferry service - al.com: "Last summer, Gulf Shores officials contemplated buying land along the Intercoastal Canal to house a terminal for a ferry that would take people to and from downtown Mobile.
But they eventually decided against it, Gulf Shores City Councilwoman Carolyn Doughty said, because enthusiasm for the project seemed to have fizzled in Mobile.
'We've kind of always been there saying, 'Come here, come here, come here,' but we don't ever hear from them,' said Doughty, who is serving as Gulf Shores' mayor while Robert Craft recovers from brain surgery. 'We're ready. We want to be part of it.'"
