The conked-out critter is one of about 80 endangered Perdido Key beach mice reproducing to their hearts' content in sand-filled glass tanks at Brevard Zoo.

Only several hundred of the mice remain in the wild. Later this month, the zoo plans to boost that number by moving the mice from a mobile home here to their own beachside digs at Gulf State Park in Alabama."
