Southwest Alabama braces for first significant snowfall since 1996 | Breaking News from the Press-Register - al.com: "Southwest Alabama on Thursday braced for what was expected to be the area's first significant snowfall in 13 years, closing schools, canceling flights and preparing for slick roads.

The National Weather Service predicted an inch of snow today along coastal areas and 1 to 3 inches in Mobile proper, plus another 3 to 5 inches farther north."
