TWO ACES ON THE SAME HOLE ORANGE BEACH GOLF CENTER

February 9, 2010 - Orange Beach, AL — When Orange Beach Golf Center volunteer John Hulen approached Shipp’s Harbour Grill about becoming a hole sponsor for the monthly Skin’s games held at the course, owner Matt Shipp commented, “I hope someone makes a hole in one, that would be great for our restaurant.” Well, Mr. Shipp got his wish times two! Two aces were made on the same hole on the same day. And it happened to be the first day of the Shipp’s Harbour Grill sponsorship, Sunday, February 7, 2010.

The first one was made by Mitch Marlowe, a visitor in town for the weekend from Powder Springs, Georgia.

The second one was made by Dick Tobias, a winter guest staying here in Orange Beach until March.

According to Golf Digest, the odds of two holes in one being made on the same hole during a single tournament are 17 million to one. This marks the first time a hole in one has been made during the eighteen months that the Orange Beach Golf Center has been holding the Skin’s games.

Shipp’s Harbour Grill (27842 Canal Road, Sportsman Marina) is the Hole sponsor on Hole #8 at Orange Beach Golf Center. The Skin’s Games are held the first Sunday of each month, the next to be held March 7, 2010. Please call Sue Davis or Bill Kreamer at the Orange Beach Golf Center, 981-4653 for more information.
