Our leaders should stand up for fishermen

LETTERS: on red snapper, toxic waste, gambling, jobs | Press-Register Commentary - al.com: "The National Marine Fisheries Service stated the red snapper is now not overfished but that it has no choice other than to shorten the season — the shortest season in history.

I didn’t hear a word from Sen. Jeff Sessions, Sen. Richard Shelby or Congressman Jo Bonner.

In the fall of 2009, the charter boats protested and blocked the inlets. I didn’t hear a word from the senators or the representative then, either.

The estimated season in 2010 will be between 51 and 60 days. A lot of charter boats and marinas will go out of business. A lot of jobs will be lost."
