February 10, 2010 - Orange Beach, AL - The Orange Beach Public Library is excited to present local resident Ty Fleming on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Library’s meeting room. Mr. Fleming will be giving a brief talk on the book he authored entitled We Served Also: China-Burma-India 1942-1945. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing. Fleming says his book is “about the GIs and what we did in the “ Lost War” (WWII) as it is called. We got little credit for our service so I named it We Served Also.”
In 2008, Mr. Fleming received a medal from the Chinese government for training their mechanics how to repair air planes in Kunming, China. Mr. Fleming is also expecting a medal from the British government for training their mechanics in Rangoon, Burma. In 2009, he was one of 3 local residents aboard the inaugural trip for Honor Flight-South Alabama, part of a national program that flies veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their respective war memorials. The Library hopes you can join Ty Fleming for what will be a very interesting book talk.
