January 21, 2010 - Orange Beach, AL - If you have ever said “I can’t draw stick figures” or “I can paint, but drawing is too hard”, you will love this class. MARY LOU NICOLAI is from Indiana and studied fine art at the John Herron Art Institute. She received a degree in Graphic Design / Illustration. Mary Lou worked for a number of years in graphic design and illustration, the highlight being the illustration of several books on South California History. These books are now distributed by the Historical Society and used as a textbook for the school district. Mary Lou says “It’s a big thrill for me to teach beginning to advanced drawing! This fun class will expand your seeing ability, and give you the tools and skills to communicate visually what you’re seeing and feeling. This changes the way you will see the world, and is the basic skill for all art. Each student will be taught at their own level.”
This class is taught using the methods outlined in the book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” and, with a series of drawing exercises, you will be amazed a how quickly and easily you will learn to draw. Once this skill is learned, drawing will become automatic, like driving a car. Students are thrilled with the progress they make and once learned, students see everything differently with increased perception and appreciation of the visual world. Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain is a very relaxing and peaceful process and has been successfully used by businesses around the world to release the creative thinking of non-artistic people helping everyone to think “outside the box”.
Class begins on Wednesday, February 10th and meets from 12:30pm to 3:00pm for six weeks. The fee is $90. Mary Lou Nicolia invites you to come join her on this creative journey. To enroll or for more information call the Orange Beach Arts Center at 251-981-2787.
