Mullet Wrapper -Christian Service Center volunteers have helped 35,000 in last 19 years

Mullet Wrapper: "By Mary Claire Dover The Christian Service Center of Gulf Shores held its Annual In-Service Day breakfast meeting on January 18, 2010 with President Linda Chappelle announcing 2009 accomplishments and upcoming fundraising events hosted by all-volunteer non-profit agency. Since opening in 1991, over 35,000 individuals, including 16,326 children have received personalized crisis assistance from the Christian Service Center. This agency is currently experiencing a greater volume of clients than either 2004 (Hurricane Ivan) or 2005 (Hurricane Katrina) because of the current economy. Not only is there a 77% increase in clientele during the past two years, but the emergency aid agency is seeing more employable, skilled, and educated people who are desperate to quickly reenter the work force in order to provide food and housing for their families. No two clients are alike, or their challenges. From loss of work, to home fire disaster to domestic violence relocation, the Christian Service Center’s trained caseworkers tailor their programs to meet each client’s individual need in a confidential environment."
