Hurricane Grants Target Gulf Marine, Rail | Journal of Commerce: "Alabama gets $4.7 million as part of Commerce Department recovery package
The U.S. Commerce Department is sending grant money to port and rail projects in states around the Gulf of Mexico to help the region’s recovery efforts from two hurricanes in 2008.
The largest of the department’s Economic Development Administration freight transportation-related grants will send $4.7 million to the city of Gulf Shores and the Airport Authority of Gulf Shores, Ala., to build a dry dock basin to support the maintenance of seagoing vessels for the Gulf Coast’s marine service industry."
