Baldwin County resort settles HIV discrimination suit | Breaking News from the Press-Register - al.com: "MOBILE, Ala. -- The Wales West resort in Baldwin County decided to settle a civil discrimination lawsuit because continuing to battle it in court would have been costly, an attorney said this afternoon.

The Wales West Light Railway & RV Resort near Silverhill agreed to a $10,000 fine and pay $36,000 over the next three years to the family of an HIV-positive boy who was barred from using the facility's pool and showers in 2007.

'Cases settle every day,' said attorney Frank Parker. 'Basically, what it is, it was a business decision.'

At the time, managing partner Ken Zadnichek explained that he was unsure about the transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, and wanted to protect the health of other patrons. He declined to comment today."
