Agencies preparing for future disasters - al.com: "ROBERTSDALE — Hurricane season is more than five months away, but Baldwin County relief agency members are preparing for operations if a storm threatens the region in 2009.
Members of Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster held their first meeting for 2009 in the Baldwin County Emergency Operations Center in Robertsdale. The group had its first real test after Hurricane Ivan hit Baldwin County in 2004, coordinating relief and recovery efforts by local and outside organizations, according to members.
Today, the group, which includes 15 agencies, is preparing for upcoming disasters, said Kelly Childress, 2009 VOAD chairwoman and the representative for the Baldwin County Area Agency on Aging."
