Crews try to save Coffee Island from washing into the sea | al.com: "Millions of dollars in federal stimulus money is being dumped overboard in the Mississippi Sound in order to keep Coffee Island from washing away.

The Nature Conservancy -- partnering with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration -- has a $2.9 million grant to create a 1.5 mile-long 'living shoreline' breakwater along the east side of the island."
